While making a name for himself as a figurehead of Madrid’s electronic movement, Landikhan teams up with emerging soulful songstress Isadora Mulvey to provide a steadfast masterpiece of piano-ladened liquid drum and bass, brimming with elegance and vulnerability.
Melancholic piano chords begin this sombre liquid drum and bass number, shortly followed by Isadora’s captivating voice singing of iron clad loyalty and undying love.
Isadora is an up and coming singer-songwriter who’s graced main stages at venues such as Glastonbury Festival, Brixton Academy, Shepherds Bush Empire, and The Roundhouse. It’s no surprise then that blossoming Ibiza and Madrid club DJ and producer Landikhan chose her to collaborate with on this smooth and well-polished single.
Isa gets through a verse of Ride or Die before the wholesome but understated bass and kick drums chime in – the chorus brings with it a drop reminiscent of early 2010s Lenzman and Riya, Commix or Calibre.
Each element compliments the other beautifully, from the shimmering synths and heartfelt vocals, to the non-intrusive beat and bold but subtle bassline. Exuding tones of vulnerability, Isa’s lyrics tell the story of a high fidelity love affair, speaking of a “ride or die” soulmate that remains loyal no matter what, and supports through all circumstances. This very concept brings a comforting affability to the track.
You can’t help but be pulled in by its depth and warmth, with Landikhan bringing polished immersive production and Isa providing a large dose of sentimental soul through her voice and truly poetic lyricism.
Perhaps not one to pump out for the shock and awe factor, but rather a pensive party warmer to bring some love, contemplation and soul to club dance floors when the time is needed.
