Wiley revisits and reflects on his carefree former years with fame in surprise slow jam ‘Smart Cookie’

ON ROTATION: Smart Cookie by Wiley

For people who like…RnB, rap,  UKG.

Wiley’s new, slightly anonymous and unexpected, single is a brave reflection on his former years – with the usual Wiley lyrical talent coupled with a somewhat unusual RnB slow jam. Whatever the genre, when Wiley drops new music, you gotta listen!

This was slightly unexpected as it didn’t come directly from Wiley himself, it was sent out from the mailers, and a quick Google will reveal why this was unexpected.

The Godfather of Grime, a man who is responsible for opening doors for many grime artists and well known hitmakers such as Dizzee, Chip, Skepta, Emily Sande and more…when Wiley makes new music you just have to pay attention and check it out!

Fallout Skyy produced the beat on this one, so Wiley could just be left to spray the track with his verses. He revisits the days when he started out in music, the money that was made, his naivety on how to cope with the fame and success, and not planning for his future. He raps about smart cookie investing and reminiscing on his previous gems, staying real to London and the hood.

The beats hit hard and the groove sweeps you away to an early 90s RnB club – close your eyes and you could be cruising down Sunset Blvd in LA with the tunes cranking out the stereo.
